Respect and Care
I know it sounds obvious, but I remember the point where I realized that the way I respond to people causes an impact on them. Quite simply, I have the choice in every moment to recognize the dignity and autonomy of each person. If I can make the world a bit safer and more caring by the way I refer to another person’s gender or race or identity, then I want to do so.
In the simple, honest words of Dolly Parton:
“I think everybody should be treated with respect. I don’t judge people and I try not to get too caught up in the controversy of things. I hope that everybody gets a chance to be who and what they are.”
